The Witcher quickly introduced viewers to Yennefer of Vengerberg (played by Anya Chalotra) who started off life as an abused character who was always being pushed around. The character has been all but disowned by her family because of how she looks. However, the character’s ailments soon took its toll on the actor herself, as she began to take on some of Yennefer’s injuries.
For the first three episodes of the series, the character is seen shy, lonely and withdrawn as she trains in witchcraft, believing the way she looks to be reason why she’ll never experience true love.
The character also suffers with a twisted spine that leaves her with a hunched back.
Moreover, she has a bent jaw that protrudes to one side.
Before the character transformed into Mage, Anya had to wear a backpiece and prostethics, maintaining a bad posture for hours on end.

“But because we’d chosen that way immediately, because we had to make decisions quite fast, we weren’t able to change the way we’re doing things.”

The star went on to reveal she had it easy compared to her body double.
She added: “The one that the body double wore was heavy because it was a whole back piece,” she added.
